Taylor Wimpey Sales Executive Sam Sandford, who works at the leading housebuilder’s Alver Village development in Gosport, took part in a trolley dash on Saturday, March 14 in aid of a local food bank.

She was joined at the Tesco superstore in Gosport by Taylor Wimpey customer Sarah Russell, who has bought a new three-bedroom home at the popular development.

The pair were challenged to collect as many items from a set shopping list as possible, with the total value of the items on the list adding up to £150. All the items in the trolley when their designated time was up was donated to the Gosport Basics Bank.

Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank co-ordinator Pam Elliott says: ‘In the past 12 months the Basics Bank has provided a week’s worth of free food and other items to the equivalent of over 4,516 people in our area who are going through a period of crisis.

‘We are so grateful to Taylor Wimpey for organising this trolley dash, which has provided us with more much-needed items to help us continue this service.’

Fiona Creed, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: ‘We are delighted to be supporting the local food bank in Gosport with our Tesco trolley dash, which was a fantastic fun event all in aid of a great cause.

‘As a local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes, and this is a great example of the way we can help.

‘I’d like to thank Sam and Sarah for volunteering to take part and congratulate them on a job well done!’Bobbie Bain, Duty Manager at Tesco, says: ‘We were delighted to host Taylor Wimpey’s trolley dash in aid of this valuable local charity and were pleased to present each of the participants with flowers and champagne as a thank you for taking part.’

The trolley dash coincided with the birthday of Radio Haslar, Gosport War Memorial Hospital’s radio station, which broadcasted live from Tesco on the day and provided live commentary on the event.

There’s a selection of new homes currently available at Alver Village, including one and two-bedroom apartments priced from £107,000 and £135,000 respectively, and four-bedroom houses from £225,000.
