Have your say

Hi there Chipsters and welcome to this week’s fun-filled Chipper Club page.

If you thought the new year celebrations were over think again, because the Chinese New Year takes place later this month.

While the English-speaking world marks the new year on January 1, the Chinese calendar follows the cycles of the moon.

That means their new year will start on Monday January 23.

You might be learning about the Chinese New Year at school, or have friends who mark the occasion at home.

It’s known for being a colourful event, full of tradition and lucky customs.

Each year is named after an animal – and 2012 is the year of the dragon. Grrrrrrr!

So to celebrate, I’ve set you a special Chipper Club challenge.

See the cute little chap pictured on the right? Well I want you to give him a colourful coat he can be proud of.

Use the traditional dragon pictured below as your inspiration.

Once you’ve completed your picture, cut it out and send it to me at Chipper (Features), The News, The News Centre, Hilsea, Portsmouth, PO2 9SX.

I’ll display my favourite drawings on this page next week.

That’s it for now my faithful friends so until next Saturday I’ll say chip chip for now!

Love Chipper X
