Earlier this week the annual Portsmouth in Bloom competition blossomed with a flourish at the final awards ceremony in the Pyramids Centre (portsmouth.co.uk/news/green-fingers-get-recognition-at-portsmouth-in-bloom-1-6305905).

This year was special for Southsea Greenhouse since we worked tirelessly with Portsmouth City Council to organise the competition.

With nearly 200 entries from all over the city, it has become quite clear to us that people of all ages love to grow.

Not only that, but Portsmouth residents are pretty good at it too.

The standard was particularly high in the House Frontage and Business categories.

It was wonderful to see the schools working so hard in their own spaces too.

The judges had a really tricky time deciding the winners.

We hope everyone who took part feels they were part of something very special.

But it doesn’t stop there – we want everyone to keep on growing, share their knowledge with others and help to green our wonderful city.

It’s amazing what a fillip beautiful gardens, a hanging basket display, or window boxes give us as we go about our busy lives.
