Remember, remember the Feeding The 5,000 event in Guildhall Square last year?

We don’t live in the countryside so can forget just how much land, effort and cost goes into growing our food.

The message was to come and eat ‘ugly vegetables made into beautiful food’ as the navy created meals for everyone from vegetables that would otherwise have been wasted. Waste not want not.

Our apple press was put to good use there. Windfalls were pressed into juice and many fruits have been caught and pressed with it since. We have to relocate our community orchard this month, before it gets too cold, as the grass courts are expanding, so if you can help somehow, please pop in and have a chat with Lisa and leave us your name and number. You will be a very welcome member of the team.

We are also offering FREE tools to new gardeners and gardening groups as they seem to have been multiplying.

So come and get your spades, forks, rakes and hoes and get gardening.
