Southsea Greenhouse used our £500 Love Your Street grant from Portsmouth Together to put on a summer event especially for Portsmouth people.

By word of mouth and pigeon post we invited new and lonely local residents to come and find out more about Southsea Greenhouse as well as the new Greens Cafe.

We also invited them to join in with some of our activities at the community garden close to Canoe Lake.

The time of year and proximity to the tennis courts suggested a strawberry tea would be appropriate.

Despite a weather warning, the sun shone and our guests had craft and gardening tasters to work up an appetite for their strawberry cream tea.

After making clay pinch pots, painting pebbles and a tour of the garden, the group took tea in the lovely Greens Cafe garden which gave them a chance to chat and make new friends.
