I was tempted to let down the tyres on Mr Nasty's Bentley
A NORMAN WISDOM impersonator has come face-to-face with TV tough man Simon Cowell – and come out on top.
Glenn Ford is taking part in ITV's Britain's Got Talent, and felt the wrath of the notorious television personality in the first round of the competition.
As he nervously sang in font of Mr Cowell and fellow judges Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan, Mr Ford could feel the record industry mogul's eyes burning into him.
After just a few seconds of his performance of She Taught Me How to Yodel, Cowell, who cultivates an image as TV's Mr Nasty, hit the buzzer to indicate that he didn't want Glenn to go through to the second round.
The other two judges followed suit – but after his performance Glenn, 48, of Norman Road, Gosport, managed to win round Morgan, who then persuaded Holden to vote with him and put Glenn through to the next round, much to the annoyance of talent guru Cowell.
'I had only just started to sing when I got the buzzer from Simon,' Glenn said.
'But after I'd finished, I was having a chat with the judges and me and Piers were having a bit of a giggle and I think he liked me, well, he persuaded Amanda to put me through anyway.
'But Simon just didn't like me, I don't know what it was about me, whether it was the way I looked or acted, but he just didn't like me.
'He told me I couldn't sing and was just sitting there chewing his pen with an arrogant look, but I thought "I can't be that bad, I've been doing this for 30 years".
'When Piers persuaded Amanda to put me through, I think Simon was a bit surprised. He didn't look happy, but I was over the moon, it was incredible.
'Simon was really hard work and just didn't like me, I don't know why, we've never even met before.
'I noticed his Bentley parked outside and was tempted to go and let down the tyres, but I didn't. I'm sure if I met him on another occasion and went for a drink with him or something he'd probably be quite a nice guy.'
The episode was filmed at Birmingham Hippodrome earlier this year and will be hitting millions of TV screens across the UK in the next 13 weeks.
