Name: Jo Kedward
Job: Director of Polymedia Ltd, Fareham
Job description: As well as being a director of the Polymedia business – helping to manage the team and making sure our budgets and targets are being met – I also direct a host of PR accounts for clients ranging from Ikea to Bargate Homes.
Polymedia provides strategic public relations consultancy and advice in business-to-business and consumer communications.
We specialise in every aspect of public relations, media relations, crisis and issues management, media training, event management and copywriting.
We also develop cohesive strategies for integrated advertising, marketing, design and production across print media and the web – so it is a busy office!
How long have you worked for Polymedia?
Three years – two of which at director level. In that time the company has almost doubled in size, both in terms of staff and clients!
What's your background?
After doing a degree in history and politics I trained to become a journalist, spending 10 years working on regional newspapers as a general reporter, then as a health correspondent before moving on to the news desk as a news editor. In 2002 I moved into PR, where I hope my background in journalism has helped me deliver strong media campaigns for our clients.
What do you like best and least about your job?
This is a challenging but fun job which is never the same two days in a row! It is satisfying when you see a campaign working well and being able to make such a difference to a business.
There actually isn't much I dislike about the job. The most frustrating aspect would have to be, like many other jobs, a lack of hours in the day!
