Have your say

There’s an element of saintliness about a property in East Cosham that could well lift its next owners into seventh heaven, too.

St George’s is a late 1920s detached family home in St John’s Road, where its elevated position gives it excellent views towards Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.

For those who don’t want to spend all their time looking out of the window, the good news is that it’s a home with excellent family accommodation with some interesting period features that include decorative woodwork and tiled fireplaces.

At the front there are two square bay windows, one for the third bedroom and the other for the sitting room.

They flank a hallway which has a door to an inner hall at its far end and from this there are doors into the drawing room on one side and the fourth bedroom on the other.

Double doors in the drawing room open into kitchen/dining room across the rear of the house which is augmented by a utility, with attached cloakroom, to one side. Sliding patio doors in the dining room then open to the rear terrace.

On the first floor there are two bedrooms and a family bathroom.

The second bedroom has a shower cubicle and a door to a study – home office, creating a great space for an older child to study/make noise/pretend to be independent before descending to raid the fridge.

The master bedroom, like the third bedroom downstairs, has its own hand basin.

The first floor also has access to plentiful eaves storage.

At the side of the house is a long carport with an electric up-and-over door that extends back to the single garage, giving a great work space and supplementing the already generous parking on the brick paviour driveway.

Directly to the rear of the house is a large patio area with a barbecue area and retaining flint wall leading to the primary garden, which also features a large pond with a water feature.

Steps from the patio rise to the central path dividing the main lawn and to the rear is an established vegetable garden.

Guide price is £435,000 (EPC Band D).
