Distance proved to be no object at all when this couple began planning their wedding.
The couple live in the USA but flew all the way to the UK so they could tie the knot in Portsmouth.
Rachel Harner and Christopher Nowlin have made Georgetown, Texas, their home together but the bride wanted to get married in her home city.
Social worker Rachel, 28, comes from Portsmouth and 43-year-old Christopher, a police officer, was happy to make the journey.
The couple were married at St Alban’s Church, in Copnor, and then held their reception at the Millstream Hotel, in Bosham.
Their big day took six months to plan and Rachel’s mum was instrumental in organising everything.
Rachel says the best moment of their wedding day was seeing each other for the first time in the church.
She adds: ‘Don’t get so stressed that you forget what the big day is supposed to be about – the two of you being united.’
Christopher popped the question on Rachel’s birthday two years ago by writing his proposal in the book she was reading.
The newlyweds made the most of their time in the country as it was also their honeymoon location.
