Mum's reward for a good turn
Caring daughter Michelle Gofton went out of her way to help her mum Sheila, which was why she deserved a pampering makeover.
Michelle, 35, worked round the clock to paint her mum's front room and it was because of all her hard work that Sheila thought she deserved a treat.
Busy mum Michelle has to juggle looking after her sons Adam, 16, and two-year-old Stanley with her job as an administrator which means there's not many hours left in the day for her.
And that's why she jumped at the chance to enjoy a relaxing pamper session as it would give her a much-needed break from looking after everyone else.
Michelle lives with partner Wayne in Milton, Portsmouth. Here's how she got on.
Hair
Senior designer Linda Metcalfe took charge of Michelle's makeover and decided to totally revamp her look.
Linda, who joined the salon recently, chatted to Michelle about what colours and styles she liked before deciding on her plan of action.
As Michelle loves the sun-kissed Californian look Linda decided to lighten her hair with slices of blonde through the top.
Michelle likes having long hair so Linda tidied up the ends before chopping in heavy layers.
To style, Linda used rollers throughout the top sections of Michelle's hair to give volume. She brushed and backcombed the hair to create plenty of height and used grips to pin back sections of the hair and create a side-sweeping fringe.
The overall look Linda wanted to achieve was a fun 1960s-inspired style similar to Dusty Springfield's, or more recently, pop star Duffy's.
Make-up
Beauty therapist Seema Patel is based at the salon and was on hand to take charge of Michelle's make-up.
Michelle normally wears nothing more than a slick of lipgloss and a smudge of eyeliner so was keen to find out what colours would suit her.
After applying concealer and a foundation base, Seema used powder to set the make-up and then applied bronzer to create a healthy glow.
Seema wanted the rest of the look to be quite glamorous and used a smoky effect on the eyes using silver, golds and bronzes.
A highlighter picked out Michelle's naturally high cheekbones and mascara added length to her lashes.
A dab of lip gloss added the final touch.
Clothes
Michelle went to New Look in Palmerston Road, Southsea, where she picked out this flattering outfit. She wore blue jeans and a pretty checked top, teaming the clothes with high-heeled boots and some fashionable wooden bangles.
Verdict?
Michelle says: 'I love being blonde but I've never been this blonde before. I think my hair is lovely. I never normally have it styled, it's always straight or tied up in a ponytail but I think it looks really nice.
'I don't normally get time to myself so this has been a real treat. It's been a really lovely day.'
