RUNNER John Blake is taking on the London marathon in honour of his wife who suffers from coeliac disease.

He will run 26.2 miles in the capital on April 17.

John, from Megson Drive in Lee-on-the-Solent, who turns 40 three days before, said: ‘It’s one of these things I wanted to do before I was 40 – though it’s just after but I can live with that.

‘Once I had got a place I then thought it’s a good opportunity to try and raise sponsorship for Coeliac UK.

‘My wife has coeliac disease and at times it’s extremely frustrating.

So I thought it would be nice to try and raise some funds to help other coeliacs.’

Coeliac disease is a condition which causes inflammation of the lining of the small intestine after eating gluten products.
