Patty makes her first trip to UK
Wisconsin's Patty Larkin is a rare breed. An innovative singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with 10 albums to her credit, she is regarded as a musician's musician.
She recently returned with Watching The Sky, her first album since the groundbreaking La Guitara album – a compilation of multi-genre international women guitarists.
She's also making her first ever visit to the UK.
You can catch her at the Ashcroft Arts Centre, in Fareham, tomorrow and find out why she's so highly regarded in the US and Canada for pushing the boundaries of folk.
The album, Watch The Sky, is both ambient and ambitious in design. Recorded and assembled in an old barn on Cape Cod, it was initially one long stream-of-consciousness piece.
'I feel that I'm stretching myself as an artist on this one. Reinventing how I create. It was a thrilling, at times harrowing experience,' she explains.
At the Ashcroft you can hear songs from this album and her back catalogue as she arrives armed with her handmade Olson guitar, a Fender Stratocaster, octave mandolin, Baritone guitar, and a selection of looping devices.
Tickets cost 11.50 from (01329) 223100 or ashcroft.org.uk.
