A PORTSMOUTH pub has raised more than £1,000 for worthy causes.

The Rose in June, in Milton Road, Copnor, held an event in aid of Sophia’s ‘Magic’ Wish, which supports three-year-old girl Sophia-Rose, who suffers from a form of cerebral palsy.

Her family are raising funds for her to have an operation which will make her able to walk easier.

A fundraising event was then held at the pub for Rosebuds, a newly formed group of ladies that meet up and raise money for several local charities.

Both landladies of the pub, Mary Saynor and Caroline Taylor, are founder members.

The next event the Rosebuds are organising is a country & western style event on Saturday May, 10.

Tickets are available from the pub.
