Pub ties could be broken
The Federation of Small Businesses is welcoming a recommendation from the Business and Enterprise Committee that could lead to the owners of operating pub properties being able to break the tie with giant owner companies.
The FSB is claiming this as a victory for their lobbying campaign, which claimed the commercial rents and prices of alcohol forced on landlords who take over pub properties were unfair.
Chairman of the FSB's Wessex Region Ken Moon said: 'The recommendation that pub owners be given an opt-out of the tie is very welcome. Pubs nationally are closing at over 40 a week.'
