Stylist Chris Aguado-Navarro is 28 and lives in Portsmouth. He owns Green Mango hair salon on Ordnance Row, Southsea, which came runner-up in last year’s World Wide Hair Tour in the Self-Sustainable Salon category. Here he describes his perfect weekend.
· What would be your ideal weekend destination?
Parma in Italy. It gives me a chance to go and visit the Davines factory. I get all the natural products for my salon from Davines, so when I visit, I get a chance to see all them being made.
I like to soak up some Italian culture at the same time because I love Italian food and their way of life.
· Not counting your loved ones, who would be your dream companion?
Audrey Hepburn would be my dream companion. Not only was she absolutely stunning, she had so much style and was an iconic figure.
· What music would you take with you?
I love old bands and singers such as James Brown, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton – real music.
· What about something to read?
At the moment I am reading Vidal: The Autobiography. It’s about Vidal Sassoon. It’s a great read as he had such an interesting life. I was very fortunate to have trained at his academy and he was, in my opinion, the best hair stylist that ever lived.
· What would be your ultimate way to relax?
There’s nothing better than having a full body massage. In the evening I like to unwind by going out with good friends for some good food.
· If money were no object, which shop would you head for?
I would go straight to Harrods. It is an amazing shop with everything you could need all under one roof.
· What’s your all-time favourite film?
It’s a toss up between Forest Gump and The Shawshank Redemption. They both have such moving stories and are absolute classics.
· We’re buying the drinks tonight. What’s your poison?
I’ll have a Johnnie Walker Black Label on the rocks please.
· What are you doing this weekend?
This weekend I am going to Murcia in Spain with my six stylists for a team-building weekend. We will have a great time, soaking up some sun and sharing some laughs.
· What’s a favourite local destination for a weekend day out?
I love going down to Old Portsmouth. It’s great when it’s sunny as you can take a walk along the waterfront and visit the beach. When it’s raining it’s the perfect place to nip into one of the pubs for some shelter or visit one of the restaurants there for some quality food.
