Emma and Simon Dewan chose the perfect location for their wedding pictures.

The Hot Walls arches at Old Portsmouth provided a fascinating backdrop and as it was pouring with rain, the historic feature gave the couple some essential cover too.

‘It was the photographer’s suggestion to go under there. It meant we didn’t get soaked and he could take a bit more time with the photos. We were really pleased with them,’ says Emma.

Emma and Simon, from Gosport, were married at Portsmouth Register Office and then enjoyed a meal at the Bridge Tavern in Old Portsmouth.

They decided to have a small ceremony and reception, inviting 28 close friends and relatives.

‘I don’t like all the fuss and I think it can get really expensive and a bit out of control. That’s not what it’s all about. So we decided to invite a few people,’ explains Emma.

But they held a big evening party for friends and family at the Queens Club in Gosport, where they met when Portsmouth played the FA Cup Final in 2010.

Emma, 38, and Simon, 40, have a 20-month-old son Freddie, who was very well-behaved on the wedding day.
