Slimming consultants are celebrating after their hard work and dedication won them two awards at an Oscar-style ceremony.
The Slimming World leaders from Fareham and Gosport were rewarded for helping more than 2,480 people in the area to lose weight every week.
They beat more than 460 others to be named team of the year, while Lisa Higgins won group of the year – trumping 9,000 others to take the crown.
Lisa takes the helm of the Gosport group which meets weekly at Thorngate Hall and the double celebration was marked at an awards ceremony in Birmingham last month.
There are 14 consultants who make up the award-winning team and they run 30 slimming clubs between them around the area.
In total, their members have lost 9,146 stone between them in 12 months – that’s a staggering 128,044 pounds.
Team leader Jane Hall says they were ‘over the moon’ to win both awards in one year.
‘Every single consultant in our team agrees that we have the best jobs in the world,’ she adds.
‘We’re passionate about helping people to change their lives by losing weight and seeing their success is the most important thing for us, but receiving these awards is a wonderful bonus.
‘We’ve worked really hard this year to make sure that members who join our groups get the highest level of service and the weight loss success they deserve.’
Jane and Lisa both posed for pictures on the red carpet with Slimming World founder Margaret Miles Bramwell.
And Jane says that the awards aren’t just a triumph for the group’s consultants, but also for its members.
‘They’re the ones who make our groups the success that they are, with their fabulous energy, the wonderful support they give each other every week, and, obviously, their impressive weight losses,’ adds Jane.
‘People who struggle with their weight suffer a range of weight-related health problems and feelings of low self-worth that affect their working and personal lives every day.
‘It’s never been more important that overweight people get the support to make changes to and lead healthier lives – both for themselves and the future generations, their children, too.’
