For putting together one of the biggest student music festivals, Becky Hill is this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winner.

Becky, 44, is chairman of the Portsmouth Schools Music Festival committee and helps to organise the annual four-day event.

Student Matt Dillon, 19, goes to the University of Portsmouth and studies IT. He’s also interested in musical theatre and helped out at this year’s festival.

It was during this time he witnessed the dedication and passion shown by Becky for the event.

He said: ‘I have never seen such a great musical festival for students to get involved in.

‘And Becky is absolutely fantastic for the amount of time, energy and effort she puts into it.

‘It’s just incredible.’

Becky, who is a music teacher, said: ‘I’m very overwhelmed at the nomination.

‘I work with a committee of 12 people who all put in a lot of effort too.

‘The music festival is a unique, one-off event that is fantastic.

‘And what’s so great about it is it involves children from all schools in Portsmouth who come together and celebrate music.’

This year’s festival took place at Portsmouth Guildhall.

Pupils from all schools in the city joined together to sing in bands and choirs, perform solo songs and do dance routines in front of a packed audience.
