Caring Sharon Forder is this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winner because she has set up a sponsored walk for a worthy cause.

Sharon, of Chadderton Gardens, Old Portsmouth, is urging people to join her for the three-mile stroll from Canoe Lake, in Southsea, to Clarence Pier and back.

The event on Sunday, October 21, will raise money for Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, which supports people who have been diagnosed with the condition.

Sharon, who is the area manager for Avon, has organised the walk for the last two years.

She decided to set one up after watching members of her family and friends go through breast cancer.

Last year’s walk raised £3,700 for the worthy cause.

Kind-hearted Sharon says: ‘This is a special cause that is close to my heart so I decided to do something every year that would help it out.

‘I want as many people as possible turning out to show their support.

‘Even if they don’t take part it would be lovely to see them cheering us along.’

Last week Sharon and a team of her colleagues set up a stand at Meridian Shopping Centre, Havant, to raise awareness of the cause and the walk.

A total of £200 was donated from the public.

Sharon adds: ‘Most people know someone who has been affected by cancer.’

To take part in the walk contact Sharon’s colleague Joanne Mifsud on 01329 661771.
