Caring Steve Jackson is this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winner because he’s organised a fundraising gig to help save his friend’s life.

Steve, of Fareham, has gathered together a string of local DJs and musicians who will perform at The Milton Arms, in Milton Road, Milton, on Sunday, September 2.

A £5 entry fee will go towards providing private health care for his friend Maddalena Phillips, 30, who has a brain tumour. The event, dubbed The Yahya Maddython Party, kicks off at 1pm.

It will include a barbecue and fire spinning acts. People will also be able to get a massage.

Steve, 39, says Maddalena requires a specialist team of therapists and neurologists, but the waiting time for such services under the NHS is 18 months.

‘We need to raise enough money to get private health care to make sure she gets everything she needs to spring her forward in her recovery,’ he explains.

‘She just wants the pain to stop so that she can start living her life again.

‘She is an extremely talented graphic designer, photographer and artist and she has made such a positive impact on so many people’s lives due to her caring nature. Let us all come together from all walks of life and send her as much positive energy and support as possible.’
