Cathy Furlong finds there's not much time left over for herself with three children to look after.
The 39-year-old spends all her time taking care of Danny, 14, Jack, 12, and Katie, six, which means she's never able to lavish any attention on herself.
Cathy, from Lee-on-the-Solent, is married to Brian, 41, and was longing to get an hour or two to herself.
She wanted to feel better about the way she looks, so when her neighbour Joanne Tindle got in touch to nominate her for a makeover Cathy was chuffed to bits.
Joanne told us: 'Cathy is a busy mum of three who spends all her time washing, cooking, cleaning and trying to look after her mum as well, who has just had a knee operation.
'This may be the boost she needs.'
We were more than happy to help and arranged for Cathy to visit the friendly team at top Gosport salon Hair @ Creatiques.
Stylist Ashleigh Felton took charge of Cathy's makeover and began by pouring her a glass of champagne to make her feel welcome.
Ashleigh chatted to Cathy about what colours and styles would suit her before taking her upstairs to the salon's special colouring area.
Cathy's hair was very dark, fine and lifeless when she arrived at the salon, so Ashleigh aimed to bring back the colour and shine and add volume.
She applied an all-over glossy mahogany colour to Cathy's hair which instantly improved her look.
Cathy had no clear idea what she wanted from her cut so Ashleigh worked on creating a slightly inverted bob, taking the hair shorter at the back and leaving it longer at the front.
The style made Cathy's hair instantly appear fuller and a thicker fringe completed the look.
Ashleigh blow-dried the hair using a big, round, brush and thickening products from Rusk. A shine spray and hairspray added the final touches.
Lorraine Clay, from Rouge Makeovers, stopped by the salon to help Cathy achieve a new make-up look.
Lorraine uses Daniel Sandler products and went for a glamorous look to complement Cathy's gorgeous new hair style.
She began by applying a base and concealer to banish dark circles around the eye area. Loose powder was used to set the foundation in place. Lorraine drew attention to Cathy's eyes by applying a dark brown powder to her eyebrows, brushing off the excess to frame her face.
She swept a dusky pink shade across the whole of the eyelids before applying a dark brown shadow, followed by a lighter shade across the socket line. Lorraine used a small smudge brush to apply a dark brown shadow as an eyeliner, followed by black mascara. A rosy pink blusher was used on her cheeks.
For the lips, Lorraine
applied mocha berry lipliner
and Daniel Sandler's 3D
lipgloss in Spectrum.
Cathy popped into Dorothy Perkins, where the friendly staff gave her some tips on what shapes and styles would suit her. She opted to wear flattering wide-legged linen trousers, 25, and this stunning fuschia pink top (above) with ruffle detail, 20. Cathy chose wedge shoes, 25, a pretty bangle, 11, and necklace, 8, to complete her look.
Cathy says: 'It's been a perfect day. It's a really nice salon and there's a really fun atmosphere here. I'm so pleased with my hair. I feel so much better. I think when you look good you do feel better about yourself.'
