It has been 25 years since HMS Warrior’s homecoming to Portsmouth and to celebrate, the Historic Dockyard is hosting a weekend of events.
Taking place tomorrow and Sunday, from 10am until 4.30pm, is a special Victorian Navy Days celebration.
You are invited to join 30 officers and crew on board for a weekend of Victorian naval traditions including seeing gun drills, small arms demonstrations and a Victorian messing including sea songs, knot tying and Dickensian street entertainers.
There will also be activities for children including storytelling and workshops.
Then on Thursday, the family-fun attraction is calling on all would-be detectives to help identify mystery objects during its Ship Detectives event.
Taking place from 11am until 1pm and again from 2pm until 4pm, this event will offer the chance to learn more about Nelson’s navy and his life.
Both events are free to attend, with a valid attraction ticket.
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is home to the Royal Navy and hosts a range of attractions for one ticket price, including HMS Warrior 1860, HMS Victory, Action Stations and the Mary Rose Story. For ticket information, see historicdockyard.co.uk.
