Winnie Cooper makes everyone smile at her Fareham lunch club because she has such a sunny outlook.
So she more than deserved the special delivery of flowers and chocolates she received for her 101st birthday.
The club has been nominated by Fareham’s mayor to receive an Easter hamper from Asda, but the supermarket also turned up with a special surprise for Winnie.
Carole Cheesmore, who runs the Monday Lunch Club in Fareham’s Trinity Church hall, said: ‘Winnie has been coming to the club since 1992 and really enjoys being here,
‘She always has a smile for us and manages to cheer us up if we’re not feeling very well or something. She’s very inspiring really.’
Winnie was born in Titchfield and has lived in Fareham all her life.
Her son and his family live in South Africa and she has visited them several times and travelled all over Europe. Her grandchildren came to the UK for her 100th birthday and her son visited at Christmas.
Winnie also has a daughter as well as her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She had a birthday tea with some of her family as well as celebrating with the lunch club.
