Determined Dale Richards is this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winner because he has set up a cross trainer challenge in an effort to raise money for a worthy cause.

Tomorrow Dale, who is the deputy manager of H&T Pawnbrokers in High Street, Cosham, will run a marathon on a cross trainer in the store, along with three other members of staff.

The challenge is part of a nationwide effort by the firm to raise £50,000 for children’s charity Get Kids Going, which helps to provide sport equipment for disabled people up to the age of 24.

The store hopes to complete the feat in about eight hours.

Customers will also be encouraged to join in.

And the store hopes to raise extra funds through a cake sale on the day.

Dale, 24, who lives in Drayton, says: ‘If we have queues at some point we will encourage customers to jump on the cross trainer.

‘I’m feeling a little bit nervous. I’ve never done anything like this before, but you’ve just got to go along with it.

‘The main thing is we are going to make a difference, locally and nationwide, to a great charity.’

He adds: ‘I used to box and do martial arts for 10 years so I’m used to physical activity.

‘But this will be something different though because there’s a lot of perseverance and stamina involved.’

Customers can donate on the day.
