It was love at first sight for Ron and Nora Port when they met in 1949.

A chance meeting at a local dance marked the start of a beautiful relationship that’s stood the test of the time.

The couple, from Havant, have just celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary – that’s 60 years of marriage.

Nora, 79, and Ron, 81, tied the knot on March 24 1951 in the village of Appledore in Kent.

Ron was in the RAF at the time but when he and Nora fell in love he decided not to re-join.

They have one son, Trevor, and four grandchildren, Theresa, Kendel, John and Daniel.

The couple received a card of congratulations from the Queen and celebrated with a party for family and friends.

‘We’ve had 60 wonderful years together,’ says Ron.
