50-mile charity walk launched in Gosport mums memory

The family of a Gosport woman who died of a brain tumour in 2016 have helped the Isle of Wight-based charity she supported to launch a two-day, 50-mile fundraising walk around the island.


Jon Jones, his 14-year-old daughter Adrienne and 12-year-old son Isaac, from Lee-on-Solent, Gosport, joined Helen Bulbeck, co-founder and director of services at brainstrust, to launch the charitys third Follow the Seagulls two-day walk, which starts on 1 April and will cover a 50-mile route around the Isle of Wight.


Mum Jo Jones, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2010, took part in the 2016 Follow the Seagulls walk. She died last summer.

Over 350 tracked and wheeled military vehicles from WW2 onwards are just some of the highlights at the 35th annual Overlord Military Spectacular Show, taking place this weekend.

The vehicles will also tackle the obstacles in the arena, as visitors get to see them in action first hand.

One complete field at the show will be dedicated to living history with accurate portrayals of soldiering on campaign, before the re-enactors recreate a battle in front of the arena audience.

There will be 120 stalls selling a vast range of militaria and craft items, as well as food and drink being available includes including burgers, baked potatoes, a beer tent and a Food and Farming award winning hog roast.

The show runs from today until Bank Holiday Monday, from 9am until 5pm daily, at The Lawns, Forest Road, Denmead.

It is fully signposted from junction three of the A3(M) to the free on site car park.

Admission is £8 for adults, £4 for under 16s and those aged under two are admitted for free. Concessions are £5.

A family ticket for two adults and up to three children is £22.
