TWO men caught in the act as they tried to break into a home are being sought by police.

The crooks were spotted trying to enter a property in San Diego Road, Gosport, via a small window at the back of the house.

One of them had a red handled screwdriver in his hand and his head through the window. They both fled after being challenged by a member of the public between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on March 19.

The window frame was bent and the lock mechanism damaged.

PC Suzanne Howard said: ‘This happened on Saturday afternoon. People would have been out on a lovely sunny day and may have seen these two acting suspiciously or seen them running away.

‘Please come forward if you can help.’

The first suspect was white, in his late teens, about 5ft 11in, and of a large build with mousey brown hair.

He wore dark trousers, a light top and a white baseball cap and was carrying the screwdriver.

The second was white, aged about 17 and skinny.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gosport police station on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
