Joan and Arthur Harmer are throwing a big party for their golden wedding anniversary.
On Saturday, more than 100 guests will make their way to the Stacey Community Centre, in Copnor.
Joan and Arthur, both 73, met when they were working at a builders merchant in 1961 and were married just six months later on March 31, 1962.
They held their wedding at the Rowland’s Castle Congregational Chapel and spent a week in Brighton for their honeymoon.
The couple have two children Tracey, 48, and Danny, 46.
They also have five grandchildren – Danielle, 23, Kayleigh, 20, Aidan and Sian, who are both 18, and 16-year-old Kyle.
When Joan and Arthur celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, Arthur’s parents were celebrating their golden anniversary. Now Joan and Arthur are celebrating 50 years of marriage in the same year that their son Danny celebrates his silver wedding anniversary with wife, Damarys.
