Budding artist Leo Hayes-New is this week’s worthy We Can Do It T-shirt winner after he bagged a top award for his creative Christmas card design.

Leo, nine, entered his festive artwork into the Rowlands Pharmacy Christmas card competition earlier this year.

The pharmacy, in association with the NSPCC, was on the hunt for youngsters aged 15 and under to come up with top designs to feature on its official company card during the festive period.

Judges hand-picked Leo’s disco-ball covered Christmas tree design as the winner recently. It was inspired by his love for DJs.

Leo of Botley Drive, Havant, received a Rowlands owl teddy, goody bag, a copy of his winning design and a certificate.

The youngster was also given a packet of cards, made using his winning design.

He’s proudly used them to write Christmas cards to his teachers at Riders Junior School, in Kingsclere Avenue, Havant.

Proud mum Shirley says: ‘I am absolutely over the moon by his achievement.

‘He was really chuffed when we told him the news, he couldn’t believe it.

‘He’s always been quite artistic.

‘My niece Hayley Roffey-New works for the pharmacy and she encouraged him and his sister Chloe to enter.

‘Alhough Chloe’s design wasn’t chosen, the whole family are proud of them both.’
