Dave Searle thought of a million different ways he could propose to his girlfriend Caroline Snape.
But in the end he did at home with a ring, a box of Krispy Kremes and some Champagne. According to Caroline, it was the perfect proposal.
The couple started seeing each other five years ago when they met through work.
After growing up in Southsea, Caroline wanted to be married in her home city.
‘Once a Pompey girl always a Pompey girl,’ she explains.
The couple married at St Ann’s Church within the grounds of Portsmouth Naval Base – the same church where Caroline was baptised.
They went on to hold their reception at the Royal Marines Museum in Southsea.
Caroline says: ‘We chose it because it’s such a beautiful and unusual building.
‘Instead of favours we asked people to give donations to charity and that sort of thing.
‘It was the most amazing day ever. I know everybody says that but it really was the best day!’
Caroline wore a 1950s-style dress from Creatiques, in Southsea.
The happy couple had the honeymoon of a lifetime when they travelled around Australia for five weeks.
Caroline and Dave, who now live in the New Forest, spent a couple of days in Melbourne before travelling up the east coast in a camper van.
