Have your say

Ben Kennedy, 27, from Stubbington, is a session drummer and drum teacher at Graham Russell Drums at Fareham and he’s about to go on tour with Mikill Pane. Here he describes his perfect weekend.

When did you last go away and where did you go?

The highlight on the last touring schedule was probably Bali. We had two gigs in five days while we were there, so it was like a little holiday. Really nice beaches there and great to see culturally.

What was the last gig/concert/comedy show you went to?

I’ve been to see Tom Odell and Gabrielle Aplin recently. Both were great gigs and good to hear a wave of new music coming through.

What about the last theatre show you saw?

Not a massive fan of Theatre. I went to see We Will Rock You once though, that was pretty good.

The last book you read?

I’m currently reading a book on Music Management. I’ve been managing an artist for eight months now as a side project to the drumming and it’s something I’m really enjoying with some exciting things already happening.

The last film you saw at the cinema or on DVD?

I think it was Skyfall. Loved it.

What’s your favourite way to relax?

Shopping and a trip to the pub. Also going to Fratton Park, although that isn’t a great way to ‘relax’ at the minute.

What do you watch on TV?

Comedy and sport: Curb Your Enthusiasm, Family Guy, Only Fools and Horses and any football that’s on in the week. Recently been hooked on Breaking Bad. Can’t wait for the final series to come out in the summer.

And which TV programmes do you avoid?

Reality TV shows. I can’t stand them and the type of people that tend to go on the programmes. Embarrassing Bodies also, some of those problems are way too graphic.

Which celeb would you most like to spend a weekend with?

I have a bit of a soft spot for Jessica Alba. She’ll do. Or, if it was a weekend based on pure hilarity, it would be Ricky Gervais.

Where do you shop?

All Saints, Topman, Urban Outfitters, vintage shops.

Where do you eat out?

We always try and have a meal together as a band when we are on tour. I really like Italian and Mexican so something like that.

What’s your signature dish, if you’re cooking?

Nothing too fancy, I do the basics well: spag bol or any type of stir-fried dish.

What about pubs and bars? Where do you go?

The Osborne View at Hill Head is my local.

Where’s good for a day out locally?

Gunwharf is nice or Hamble. Really looking forward to those summer evenings again.
