Have your say

Emma Collins, 27, is a research assistant from Southsea. She lives with her husband, Lewis. The couple recently got married on Southsea beach.

When did you last go away and where did you go?

I always try to be mindful to enjoy the beach on our doorstep.

Emma Collins

It was a weekend break to Venice in Feburary last year. The fresh pasta was lovely and the gondola ride was amazing.

What was the last gig/concert you went to?

I went to see the Heroes and Superheroes show by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. I had never listened to classical music until then, but thoroughly enjoyed it.

What about the last theatre show you saw?

I went to see The Bodyguard at the Mayflower Southampton with my mum. Alexandra Burke was amazing.

The last book you read?

A Path with Heart by Jack Kornfield. It is a really good book with Buddhist undertones and taught me how to integrate these teachings into my daily life.

The last film you saw at the cinema or on DVD?

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Loved the first one as it reminds me of my trip to India where me and my husband backpacked from Delhi to Goa.

What’s your favourite way to relax?

I love to meditate and jog. I also enjoy bubble baths.

Where do you shop?

I like to shop in charity shops. It is better for the environment if we can recycle. Most importantly I like giving to charities that help others.

What’s your signature dish, if you’re cooking?

I like to cook Italian and enjoy being experimental with ingredients. I make a great lasagne layered with different vegetables.

Where’s good for a day out locally?

The beach. I always try to be mindful to enjoy the beach on our doorstep.

And what about a day trip further afield?

I love to go to Monkey World in Dorset. All the proceeds go to helping primates that are ill-treated. I feel so sorry for them and it is such a worthwhile cause.

Do you have any hobbies?

I enjoy raising money and awareness for charities. I am currently training to run the Race for Life. I will be hosting my hen party on the race to raise money for cancer research. We had to bring our wedding forward due to health issues and I want to help others people and my husband fight cancer by finding more prevention, treatment and ultimately cures. I would be grateful if you could sponsor me at justgiving.com/fight4love.
