Marcus Jones, 36, from Fareham, organises open mic nights in his spare time to promote talented musicians. Look out for Mr Jones’ Open Mics later in the month.

What was the last gig/concert you went to?

The last gig I went to was an open mic night I organised. It went really well. We had about 20 acts at the Fareham pub and they all performed one song. A lot of the acts there were up and coming and some of them were performing their own stuff. Iain Scott was the night’s winner and will go on to play at the national Open Mic UK show.

What do you watch on TV?

I have been watching Breaking Bad (far right). It’s a superb series, well written and very entertaining. I love the characters and it surprised me. There is not a lot of TV that I would watch but this became compulsive viewing.

What was the last book you read?

It was called Second Honeymoon by James Patterson and Howard Roughan. It’s a story about a serial killer who kills people on their honeymoon. It was a pretty good page turner. I took it with me on holiday and I really enjoyed it.

When did you last go on holiday and where did you go?

I’ve just been to Hurghada in Egypt and spent a week over there which was great. I ticked off a few things from the bucket list like swimming with dolphins in the Red Sea, which was fantastic. We did some snorkelling and visited some Egyptian tombs. It was a great holiday.

Where is good for a day out locally?

I like to go to Arundel. There are so many little things that you can do down there and it doesn’t have to cost you money. It is a beautiful little town. I like going to the Swanbourne lake with my daughter and taking a walk around there and feeding the ducks.

What was the last theatre show you saw?

Derren Brown at the Mayflower in Southampton. I don’t go to the theatre enough. I do love being amazed though and Derren Brown (below) is so brilliant he gets me nearly every time.

What about the last film you saw at the cinema or on DVD?

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes – such a great film. I love a good movie. Into The Storm looks like it will be pretty good too.

What’s your favourite way to relax?

I’m a musician so I like nothing more than the time to sit with the guitar and write music, as well as arrange a creative cover I can then perform at my open mic night.

Which celeb would you most like to spend a weekend with?

I would have liked to spend some time with Robin Williams. I was very upset about hearing of his death as he was one of the good ones.

Do you have any hobbies?

I play guitar and sing in my spare time. I am also in a new band called Iolar and we play a mix of modern folk music (think Ben Howard, Lum-ineers, Mumford and Sons) and popular singalong
classics.

This is my first band and we have a few gigs lined up including the Sound of Home Festival in Portsmouth on August 30.
