Runners who are planning to take part in this year’s Race for Life can get in shape with a women-only training group.

Hilsea’s renowned Alexandra Sports store will launch its 10-week course next Monday, May 14.

You don’t have to be an experienced runner to take part – in fact the group is aimed at those with little or no experience.

Runners will pay £25 for the course which includes refreshments after each session.

And there are two sessions to choose from – one at 6pm on Mondays and another at 9.30am on Thursdays.

The one-hour sessions are designed to help runners who need to get fit before the big event on Southsea Common on Sunday July 22.

Fitness instructor Tiffany Eneas will lead the sessions on behalf of the sports shop and says it’s the perfect chance for those taking part in Race for Life to get themselves ready for the big event.

Each session starts and finishes at Alexandra Sports in Gladys Avenue.

‘They’ll be with like-minded people and can come along in their leggings and T-shirts and just give it a try,’ says Tiffany.

‘It’s predominantly aimed at beginners.

‘We want to encourage more people to run and get themselves fit.’

Thousands of women will pound the pavements around Southsea when they raise money for Cancer Research by taking part in Race for Life.

With a 5k and 10k to choose from, it’s not too late to enter this year’s event by logging on to raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org
