Peggy and Peter Webb’s first date was memorable for all the right reasons.
After meeting at a youth club, they travelled into London on VE Day – May 8, 1945.
Crowds had gathered to celebrate the end of the Second World War and a young Peggy and Peter were there to see history in the making.
That first date turned into more and on July 1 1951, they were married in Colliers Wood, London.
Now living in Old Portsmouth, Peggy and Peter have one son, Martin and two grandchildren, Toby and Charlotte. They also have a great-grandaughter, Amy.
They marked their anniversary with a celebratory lunch and were delighted to receive a card from the Queen.
