Party princess Bethany Starbuck took her mum by surprise by asking for a Moshi Monsters cake.

Mum Debbie had been planning to make a princess’s castle, but the children’s characters had proved so popular there was a quick change of plan.

‘I was going to make the turrets and everything,’ laughs Debbie. ‘At least I didn’t have to make the cake at the last minute. I just had to add the characters.’

Bethany, from Stubbington, still dressed like royalty, wearing a Disney gown just like Princess Merida’s from Brave.

Her fifth birthday party was held at her Stubbington home. Bethany and 24 guests from school, pre-school and her swimming club enjoyed party games and dancing organised by children’s entertainer and magician Silly Scott.

He also impressed everyone with a magic show.
