THIS WEEK IN 1992: Councillor’s wife’s act of desperation

Have your say

He’s performed magical tricks for thousands of children over the years, but Scott Thatcher had a very different role at a recent party.

The children’s entertainer – known to magic fans as Silly Scott – threw a bash to celebrate his son Riley’s first birthday.

There wasn’t a wand or silky star-printed suit in sight as Scott relaxed with the family at his Bridgemary home and enjoyed spending time with his little boy.

He says: ‘It was a lovely afternoon with just the family. Riley was a very lucky boy with lots of presents and cards. I didn’t do any magic, but my wife Kirsten and I both made his No1 birthday cake.

‘Riley’s favourite present was his Little Tikes Cosy Coupe car with personalised number plate!’

Riley is pictured with mum and dad and an amazing balloon plane complete with smoke, made by Scott’s talented friend, balloon artist Tony Hyams.
