Helping people locate friends and family they’ve lost contact with

DARVILL: I am researching my family tree and looking for members of my maternal grandfather’s family.

His name was James (Billy) Darvill and his mother was Kate Parham married to Charles Darvill. I remember my mother Inez talking about his cousin, also I believe called Kate Parham, whose daughter married a member of a band. With the help of my good friend Ron Brown who used to write The News Nostalgia column, the band was Troise and his Mandoliers.

Leggate: I’m looking for a lovely childhood friend, Valerie Leggate who as a youngster lived on Bedhampton Hill, Bedhampton, Hampshire in the 1950s with her parents Hugh and Beryl Sergeant and I lived at No61 with my parents Geoffrey and Jacqueline Owen. We both went to the Convent of the Cross at Waterlooville for a short while and attended each other’s wedding.

My father made a film of Valerie’s wedding day. I last saw Valerie in 1968 when her husband (David, I believe) and Valerie were planning to work abroad and at that time unfortunately all contact was lost. Valerie’s brother was Christopher Sergeant who was a Veterinary Surgeon and his wife’s name was Biddy. Any help in locating Valerie would be much appreciated.

Murray: I am looking for links to Ron Murray from Portsmouth who was a good friend of my uncle, Tom Furlong ‘Eddy’.
