SOUTHERN GRAMMAR: Did you join Southern Grammar in the 1960s or 1970s?

If so, I would be very pleased to hear from you. The Old Secundrians Association, as well as having its own website (southerngrammar.com) and producing two newsletters a year, holds an annual dinner in May (attended by about 130 former pupils and staff) at which there is usually a speaker – we try to make it humorous, a great number of stories are told and quite a few memories shared.

In short, a great evening is had by all. However, we are hardly represented at all by former pupils who joined in the 1960s or 1970s whereas the ‘lads’ from other years, including the 1930s, are very numerous – the total size of our membership is over 550.

If you are interested, please get in touch. I joined the school in 1966 and and am usually just about the youngest one at the dinner. I would be pleased to be joined by some other “youngsters”!

COWE: We are trying to trace family members of our family.

In particular we wish to trace a person born in 1919 (probably in Alverstoke) or her descendants.

WHITE: I’m looking for links to Alfred John Dryden White who married Lilly Austin 1916 Portsmouth and had a daughter Joan Edith.

Joan was born around 1924. Any help, much appreciated
