I had a phone call from a relative recently, asking me to come around as she had something useful for this page.
What she showed me was a fascinating item dug up by her father more than 50 years ago when they moved to a new house in Bedhampton.
Since 1960 it has remained in a drawer until it came into Annette’s possession.
As can be seen in the photograph, it is a brass object in the form of a snake or serpent with what looks like a frog-like animal caught in its mouth.
The cast measures 4in x 4in and is of solid brass. It weighs in at just under a pound.
If anyone can tell me what the cast is or if it has a value, I would be most interested.
