STACY Lunn was overwhelmed after she picked up her award as winner of Best Volunteer.

Stacy, 44, of North End, came out on top for dedicating six years to children who have been affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

She is a volunteer for Lifeline Charity’s Portsmouth and Hayling Island Link, which brings children from Belarus and Ukraine on holidays to Portsmouth. Stacy helps organise the stays for deprived children and she has let 16 of them stay in her house since being involved with the charity.

Stacy said: ‘I’m really humbled that I’ve been recognised for the work that I do.’

Nicola Laing was the runner-up for volunteering at The Kings Theatre in Southsea. Last Christmas she worked 300 hours – an incredible 44 out of 45 pantos.
