Family members gathered to help Anne and Ray Loader celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
The couple, from Bedhampton, celebrated 50 years of marriage on Friday February 4.
‘I don’t know where the time has gone,’ says Anne.
‘I can’t believe 50 years have gone by. I hope we have many more happy years still to come.’
Anne and Ray met in 1957 and got engaged in December 1960 giving them just over a year to plan their wedding.
‘Most of my family from generations back worked for the Portsmouth Water Company,’ says Anne.
‘My husband worked for Portsmouth Water Company and we went to lots of social things and met from that.
‘We just seemed to click straight away, we liked the same things and we saw a lot of each other.’
Anne and Ray were married at St Thomas’s Church in Bedhampton and four sons, Gary, Stephen, Andrew and Graeme, followed.
The couple now have three grandchildren – Gemma, Michael and Hollie.
Thirteen-year-old Gemma made her grandparents a beautiful anniversary cake to celebrate their special day.
The family marked the occasion by taking Anne and Ray out for a meal.
‘We’ve had a very happy marriage,’ adds Anne.
‘We’ve had plenty going on with our sons and their children and we’ve enjoyed lots of nice holidays abroad and in this country.
‘We like going to the beach and we have a big garden that keeps us busy.’
