THIS week we’ve decided to award We Can Do It T-shirts to three friends from Portsmouth.

Katherine Whitehead, 27, of Buckland, Zoe Saunders, 37, from Stamshaw and Selena Miller, 21, of Copnor, will all be jumping 13,000ft in a charity sky dive with the Red Devils.

The trio work at the Star and Garter pub in Portsmouth, which is run by Katherine’s father.

Proceeds will be going to armed forces charity Help for Heroes.

Katherine said: ‘We all have connections with the armed forces.

‘My dad used to be in the army and my little brother has just signed up.

‘This is the first bit of fundraising we’ve done and it’s quite a good one to start with.

‘The details haven’t been finalised yet, but I know we’re going to be doing a tandem jump from 13,000ft with the Red Devils.’

She added: ‘We will be freefalling for about 3-4,000ft before, hopefully, our parachutes will open and land us to safety.’

The jump takes place on September 8 at a location yet to be confirmed.

Katherine explained: ‘We have to raise £1,800, so we’re looking at personal targets of £600 each, with £300 going towards the jump.’

To help with their fundraising, a series of activities will be taking place at the Star and Garter pub.

The trio have already raised £150 from a DJ night at the pub.
