50-mile charity walk launched in Gosport mums memory

The family of a Gosport woman who died of a brain tumour in 2016 have helped the Isle of Wight-based charity she supported to launch a two-day, 50-mile fundraising walk around the island.


Jon Jones, his 14-year-old daughter Adrienne and 12-year-old son Isaac, from Lee-on-Solent, Gosport, joined Helen Bulbeck, co-founder and director of services at brainstrust, to launch the charitys third Follow the Seagulls two-day walk, which starts on 1 April and will cover a 50-mile route around the Isle of Wight.


Mum Jo Jones, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2010, took part in the 2016 Follow the Seagulls walk. She died last summer.

On Saturday the 8.23pm service from Portsmouth Harbour to Cardiff Central will terminate at Bristol Parkway with a bus connection to Patchway and stations to Cardiff Central.

On Sunday the line will be closed between Warminster and Salisbury with buses in operation.

Services between Cardiff Central and Southampton Central, Portsmouth Harbour and Brighton will operate to a revised timetable with some services not running.

Due to the closure of Wych Lane in Bridgemary as part of the BRT works First will be revising services 81, 82, 83, 85, 86 and 88.

Journeys operated as service 81 will be replaced with journeys operating as 83 with minor timetable changes.

Service 85 and 86 will be diverted from Nobes Avenue Shops to Gregson Avenue, Cunningham Drive and Fareham Road in both directions.

Service 88 will also divert from Carisbrooke Road, Brading Avenue, Brewers Lane, Nobes Avenue, Gregson Avenue, Cunningham Drive and Fareham Road in both directions.

A shuttle service, numbered G1, will operate every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm on Monday to Saturdays to link with the diverted services.

The shuttle bus will operate in an anti-clockwise loop, running from Nobes Avenue Shops to Gregson Avenue, Wych Lane, Tukes Avenue, Carisbrooke Road, Brading Avenue, Brewers Lane and Nobes Avenue, connecting with the diverted 85 86 and 88 services at Nobes Avenue Shops.
