50-mile charity walk launched in Gosport mums memory

The family of a Gosport woman who died of a brain tumour in 2016 have helped the Isle of Wight-based charity she supported to launch a two-day, 50-mile fundraising walk around the island.

 

Jon Jones, his 14-year-old daughter Adrienne and 12-year-old son Isaac, from Lee-on-Solent, Gosport, joined Helen Bulbeck, co-founder and director of services at brainstrust, to launch the charitys third Follow the Seagulls two-day walk, which starts on 1 April and will cover a 50-mile route around the Isle of Wight.

 

Mum Jo Jones, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2010, took part in the 2016 Follow the Seagulls walk. She died last summer.

RAILWAYS

SOUTHWEST TRAINS

On Sunday until early afternoon, some lines between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction and all lines in the Wimbledon area will also be closed.

Services to Portsmouth Harbour will run to revised timetables.

SOUTHERN RAILWAY

On Sunday early morning engineering work will take place between Ford and Chichester from 12.35am until 5.50am. The 11.17pm service on Saturday from London Victoria to Chichester is diverted to terminate at Littlehampton and will not call at Ford, Barnham and Chichester.

FIRST GREAT WESTERN

On Saturday the line between Salisbury and Romsey will be closed. Services between Cardiff Central, Bristol Temple Meads and Portsmouth Harbour or

Brighton will be running to a revised timetable with buses replacing trains between Salisbury and Romsey. The 6.48am service from Portsmouth Harbour to Brighton will not run.

On Sunday the line between Salisbury and Southampton Central will be closed. Services between Cardiff Central, Bristol Temple Meads and

Portsmouth Harbour or Brighton will be running to a revised timetable with buses replacing trains between Salisbury and Southampton Central.

BUSES AND FERRIES

STAGECOACH

Service 37 between Havant and Petersfield will be disrupted until Sunday. It will be diverted in both directions.

Due to the closure of Palmerston Road in Southsea the Coastliner 700 will be diverted,

A temporary bus stop will be situated on Clarence Parade just before the junction of Palmerston Road in both directions for the duration of the road works.

FIRST

Due to road works, Park Way in Whiteley will be closed until May 1. Service 28 is to use Whiteley Way in both directions to and from Tesco during this time.

Due to works taking place on Primate Road in Titchfield (between Warsash Road and St Anthonys School) this part of Primate Road will be closed until May 1. Services 72 and 57 will be diverted.

IOW FERRIES

No planned disruption to services.
