50-mile charity walk launched in Gosport mums memory

The family of a Gosport woman who died of a brain tumour in 2016 have helped the Isle of Wight-based charity she supported to launch a two-day, 50-mile fundraising walk around the island.


Jon Jones, his 14-year-old daughter Adrienne and 12-year-old son Isaac, from Lee-on-Solent, Gosport, joined Helen Bulbeck, co-founder and director of services at brainstrust, to launch the charitys third Follow the Seagulls two-day walk, which starts on 1 April and will cover a 50-mile route around the Isle of Wight.


Mum Jo Jones, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2010, took part in the 2016 Follow the Seagulls walk. She died last summer.

LEE-ON-THE-SOLENT: Portsmouth Road.

HAVANT: A27, Bedhampton Road, Southmoor Lane, Bedhampton Way

WATERLOOVILLE: London Road, Stakes Road, Stakes Hill Road, Hulbert Road, Milton Road.

DENMEAD: Hambledon Road, Kidmore Lane, Maple Drive, Green Lane.

PORTSMOUTH: Eastern Road, Kirpal Road, Elm Grove, Victoria Road, Farlington Avenue, London Road, Milton Road, Locksway Road, New Road, Kingston Road, Southsea Promenade.



On Sunday the 12.30am Eastleigh to Portsmouth Harbour train is replaced by a bus throughout.


On Sunday buses replace trains between Southampton Central and Havant.


On Sunday the 8.19am Romsey to Brighton service will start from Havant.

A replacement bus will run earlier from Romsey to Southampton Central connecting with an alternative train to Brighton.



No planned disruption to services.


Due to traffic island and pedestrian crossing works at New Road Junction, Kingston Road in Portsmouth will be closed to all northbound traffic until Friday.

Services 1, 1A, 3, 14, 40, 43 and 53 will be diverted.

In Middle Street, Portsmouth, services 15 and 19A will be diverted due to building works taking place.



No planned disruption to services.
