Here are the unsung heroes who have made it through to this year’s hotly anticipated We Can Do It Awards show.

Every week we’ve been running stories on kind-hearted groups, businesses and individuals. Then once a month we’ve featured nominations in 10 categories designed to highlight the very best of community spirit.

Now we’ve selected a shortlist of six for each of the categories and they are all in the running to pick up awards at our We Can Do It night, which takes place on Monday, November 19, at the Kings Theatre in Southsea.

The awards aims to celebrate all forms of community achievement and honour people who work selflessly to make life better for others.

The fun-filled evening, which will again be presented by Wave 105 presenter Steve Power, will see a Take That tribute act take to the stage.

There will also be entertainment from local dance troupe The Three Js and this year’s winner of The News’ Instant Star competition, Jennifer Parker Lummis.

Doors will open at 7pm and the event, which is sponsored by The Southern Co-operative, will kick off at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be available at the bar.

All those shortlisted, plus their friends and family, will be invited to attend the free evening.

Tickets are also available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve tickets call events co-ordinator Liz Parker on (023) 9262 2202 or email her at events@thenews.co.uk

Tickets are snapped up fast, so make sure you get yours soon.
