As various events were held to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, pupils at Newtown Primary School decided they wanted to commemorate it differently.
The Muddy Boots Gardening Club meets at the Gosport school three times a week to work on gardening skills.
Members learn how to remove weeds and plant flowers plus other horticultural tasks. And to mark major events, the children also create themed gardens.
For the centenary of the Titanic, they made a memorial garden.
Carol Edgar, who runs the club, says: ‘They were learning about Titanic in school.
‘It’s a gardening club that’s supposed to be fun and most of them are really good.
‘The fact that we’ve got so many children doing it and have a long waiting list speaks for itself.’
The club also celebrated the Diamond Jubilee with a special display in honour of the Queen.
