Tap dance star Madre Paice is this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winner after she clinched first place in a national talent contest.

Judges at the talent show, at Southport Holiday Park, were won over by Madre’s three-minute tap dance routine to Glenn Miller’s 1930’s hit tune In The Mood.

The Castle Primary School pupil, from Wordsworth Avenue, Paulsgrove, beat 60 other youngsters in her age group to win £500 in cash, a certificate and a trophy.

The panel of judges comprised performers from the West End and former X Factor contestant Rachel Adedeji, who reached the boot camp stage of the television contest in 2008.

Madre made the finals after she passed the heat stages whilst on holiday with her grandparents at Pontin’s Camber Sands Holiday Park, in Kent, last summer.

Proud mum Lindsay Cambridge, 39, said she was going to invest Madre’s prize money into her future dancing career.

‘I’m incredibly proud of her,’ she said.

‘The whole experience was completely surreal.

‘The finals of the show were so professional - it was like something you see on television.

‘‘Madre loved seeing Rachel Adedeji, she felt like she was actually on the set of X Factor.

‘She’s been dancing since the age of three, and she absolutely loves it.

‘The whole family are behind her.’
