Revving up for another Festival of Speed
Formula One world championship leader Jenson Button and reigning F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton will be among at least 115 drivers and riders taking part in the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed from Friday.
Around 150,000 petrolheads will descend on Lord March's country estate near Chichester from July 3-5 for what has become the world's largest celebration of motorsport's history.
The parkland and forest will echo with the sound of racing engines as an amazing assortment of machines roar up the hillclimb course past Goodwood House and around the rally stage at the top of the hill.
On the Sunday Brawn GP star Jenson Button is set to drive a Mercedes W154 grand prix car. McLaren ace Hamilton will be there on the same day, fulfilling a lifelong ambition by driving his hero Ayrton Senna's McLaren MP4/4 - which will also be driven by Senna's nephew Bruno.
Also confirmed are F1 drivers Mark Webber and Timo Glock, plus David Coulthard and other stars from the past ranging from Sir Jackie Stewart and Sir Stirling Moss to Eddie Irvine and Damon Hill. In all six F1 teams will be at Goodwood, including Ferrari.
Other big motor racing names expected are five-times world rally champion Sebastien Loeb, Hannu Mikkola and Stig Blomqvist.
Meanwhile, two-wheeled heroes set to take part are former world champions Mick Doohan and Max Biaggi, plus current stars Troy Corser, Cal Crutchlow and Troy Bayliss.
Celebrities due to soak up the unique festival atmosphere include American talk show host Jay Leno, Hollywood actor Peter Fonda, Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and celebrity chef James Martin.
This year's festival theme is True Grit - Epic Feats of Endurance, celebrating the drive and determination of motor racing's heroes. Expect celebrations of the centenaries of Bugatti, Audi and Morgan, plus 50 years of the Mini and the largest collection of Silver Arrows racers ever seen in one location.
There's also the Cartier Style et Luxe concours d'elegance, aerial displays, the BP Ultimate FoS-TECH technology pavilion and supercar runs featuring UK debuts including the targa-top Bugatti Veyron Gran Sport, Porsche Panamera S and Lotus Evora. Plus there's a Junior Festival of Speed for the kids.
